Find What You Need Faster in Updated Google App

That is where the new entertainment, sports, and movies shortcuts come in.

The latest update, going live now for users in the United States, takes the form of tappable shortcuts that live underneath the search bar, and can connect you with everything from nearby areas of interest to entertainment news, translation and currency conversion, and, of course, weather forecasts.

The shortcuts will begin appearing Tuesday in updates to Google's app for iPhones, Android phones and its mobile website.

The app even includes quick access to simple games and, yes, you can even tap on an "I'm feeling curious" shortcut to bring up a random search result. After a bit of research, Google found that users were hitting the bottom of the page looking for more to read. Right now, Google says these "tappable shortcuts" are available to users in the USA, and it's unclear when they might be available elsewhere. To see what's available, just make sure your Google app is updated to the latest version then look for your shortcuts underneath the search box.

The company will also be introducing shortcuts for big events.

According to Google, they have added over 200 headlines of content to the home section of the app, meaning you have a lot of news to get through. In the internet's early years, users would visit their favorite homepages for this sort of information - news, weather, local, sports, etc. The list is extensive, as shown in the gallery below, launching right into various (mostly Google) activities and actions.
