Executive action to kill Clean Power Plan coming this week: EPA chief

President Trump is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday to roll back the Clean Power Plan rule, keeping a campaign vow to undo the Obama administration's aggressive attempts to reduce carbon emissions.

"Tomorrow the President will sign an executive order to strengthen the nation's energy security by reducing unnecessary regulatory obstacles that restrict the responsible use of domestic energy resources, this order will help keep energy and electricity affordable reliable and clean in order to boost economic growth and job creation", Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary, said in Monday's press briefing.

President Trump's rollback of the Clean Power Plan is not just a foolish failure of leadership on climate change, but another attack on public health that will trigger more asthma attacks among American children and cause more adults to die before their time, said EWG President Ken Cook.

The document lays out a broad blueprint for the Trump administration to dismantle the architecture that former President Barack Obama built to combat the phenomenon, according to details shared with Bloomberg News.

Scott Pruitt was nominated as the Environmental Protection Agency's administrator by Trump when he was serving as Oklahoma Attorney General.

"The constant narrative about the "war on coal" and the alleged devastating impact of EPA's regulations on West Virginia´s coal industry will now be exposed for its inherent speciousness", he predicted.

Trump has called climate change a "hoax" perpetrated by China to gain a competitive advantage.

Pruitt criticised the Paris climate agreement, which Trump has reportedly said he will "cancel" and which Pruitt said was too lenient in its provisions for China and India, which, like the U.S., are among the world's leading producers of carbon dioxide.

The clean power plan, which aims to cut emissions of Carbon dioxide and other emissions and was implemented in 2015, has been on hold since a year ago while a federal appeals court considered a challenge by Republican-led states and more than 100 companies.

But it's been on hold since a year ago. "The CPP is not tethered to the Paris accords". Following a meeting with auto executives in Detroit, Trump directed Pruitt's EPA to review fuel efficiency standards.

The executive order, however, is just the first step in what will be a complex process.

"We've penalized ourselves through lost jobs while China and India didn't take steps to address the issue internationally".

The EPA administrator said that he will focus on "getting things right here domestically and making sure we operate within the framework of the Clean Air Act". Scientists say we must not surpass that range if we want to avoid the worst effects of climate change.
